Thank you for taking the time to visit our site. Let me tell you a little about ourselves.

In 1996 my husband and I set out to find a perfect boxer. What we found instead, was contract after contract of what seemed to us as puppy mill pyramids in hiding.

Let me explain.

The breeders we spoke with would insist that if we bought a female boxer puppy, we were to give them, the breeder, a puppy back out of each litter that we breed of the breeders choice . Second if we bought a male, the breeder would ask for lifetime breeding rights. On top of this, if we wanted the option to breed the dog, the breeder had to agree on the mate we chose and we also had to agree to show the dog continuously until it became champion titled. So the breeder did none of the work, but got nice champion puppies back from every dog they sold, reselling under the same terms!

A puppy mill in hiding? You decide. 

If we would agree not to breed the dog and have it spayed/neutered, we could get it a little cheaper. But to us, we believe, if you buy it, it's yours, no matter what you pay. So we continued to look.

It is sad to say that the only boxer you could get without a contract controlling your rights, was to stop by the nearest puppy mill or pet shop. I found that appalling! So that drove us to the idea of raising our own beautiful boxers without "strings". My husbands family had boxers when we met so it made sense to keep them in our family. That's when we actively started learning about everything boxer, and started Jakes Sweetwater Boxers. Jake - the name of our oldest son and my husbands nick-name, and Sweetwater because that is the city where we got our first boxer.

Since 1996, Jakes Sweetwater Boxers has gained great knowledge in the proper care and breeding of the registered Boxer. It has been our continuing goal to produce the best quality boxer puppy you can buy, while still allowing you all the freedoms of a "strings free" policy. We have worked to build lines that not only produce puppies with excellent health, but lines which also promote intelligence, perfect temperament, strength and beauty. We breed from lines with champion dogs in order to bring out the most beautiful boxer standards, but also avoid lines which include in-breeding, line-breeding and cross-breeding, which can all shorten the life of your beautiful boxer.

We strive to bring you all of the information you will need to care for your puppy throughout it's life. We will answer any and all questions you have, in detail to the best of our ability. If we do not know the answer, we will find it for you, and get back to you quickly. We are happy to answer ANY and ALL questions that may be on your mind and in your thoughts. If you buy from another breeder, we are still happy to help all we can. Your questions are important and you deserve answers. So please feel free to ask all you like.
